The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is one part of United Way's work to increase financial stability and improve the quality of life for Upstate individuals and families.
Many in our community don't have access to affordable tax preparation services or are unaware of potential savings through Earned Income Tax Credits and various deductions that can literally put thousands of dollars back in their hands and into our local economy. VITA is focused on increasing the financial stability of our community by making sure taxpayers claim all of the credits for which they qualify.
The VITA program proves that a small investment by United Way and the community can reap amazing rewards. In addition to maximizing the return amount that each taxpayer receives, VITA saves Upstate residents significant tax preparation fees.
If your household income is less than $50,000 and your taxes do not involve the following:
Schedule C
Capital gains and losses
IRAs
