Spartanburg Housing Summit

Spartanburg Housing Summit

13 Jun, 2019  /  by Upstate Family Resource Center

Carolyn Wilson and Kelley Ezell attended the Spartanburg Housing Summit hosted by the United Way of the Piedmont on May 30th.  It was really eye opening and they gained a better understanding of the conversation, language and concepts.

Some topics discussed were:

  • Using Data to Understand Local Housing Needs
  • Panel on the Social and Economic Impacts of Housing
  • Housing Strategies
  • Legislative Update
  • Trends in Market Demographics/Housing Supply
  • Missing Middle Housing

Much of the data and focus was on the inner city, but there was lots of conversation about the countywide issue as well. The UFRC often works with families who can’t afford quality housing in the District 2 area.  The United Way has formed an Opportunity Housing Collaborative.  If you are interested in getting involved check out the upcoming opportunities below.

Upcoming opportunities to continue your involvement include:

  • Join the Opportunity Housing Collaborative to help identify and implement housing strategies.
  • Participate in the City of Spartanburg’s process to develop a new Comprehensive Plan. More details to come later this year.
  • We will be sure to share additional information and ways to be involved as we are made aware of opportunities.

You can access information shared during the Summit here.

All information that is publicly available will be added to this website. We will update the website as we receive additional content to share.
